Community Guidelines

Standards for respectful, safe, and consensual community participation.

Last updated: 2026-01-31

Effective Date: January 31, 2026

Rush is built on respect, consent, honesty, and safety. These Community Guidelines establish the standards every user must follow.

Violations may result in content removal, warnings, feature restrictions, temporary suspensions, or permanent bans.

1. Who Rush Is For

Rush is for adults 18 and older looking to connect with other adults in respectful, consensual ways.

  • Minors are strictly prohibited. Accounts showing, involving, or referencing minors are removed immediately and reported to authorities where required by law.
  • Verification: By using Rush, you confirm you are at least 18 years old.

2. Your Profile

Your profile is visible to other users. Keep it authentic and appropriate for the Rush community.

What's Allowed

✅ Clear photos of yourself ✅ Non-explicit images (no sexual acts or genitals in public profile areas) ✅ Honest information about who you are and what you're looking for ✅ Optional sensitive fields (sexual orientation, relationship status, HIV status, etc.) ✅ Links to your social media (at your own risk)

What's NOT Allowed on Public Profiles

❌ Explicit sexual content (nudity, genitals, sexual acts) ❌ Violence, gore, or exploitation ❌ Hateful symbols, slurs, or threatening content ❌ Misleading or impersonated identities ❌ Photos of other people without their permission ❌ Images containing minors in any context (even family photos) ❌ Commercial solicitation or advertising ❌ Contact information intended to bypass the app

Private Photos & Messages

Private photo albums and direct messages may contain explicit adult content between consenting adults, provided:

  • All depicted individuals are adults and have consented
  • Content is legal in all relevant jurisdictions
  • Content does not involve minors, non-consensual acts, or illegal activity

Note: Private content is still subject to our safety scanning and moderation systems.

3. Consent Is Everything

Consent governs all interactions on Rush. This is non-negotiable.

Required Behaviors

✅ Respect stated boundaries ✅ Stop messaging if someone stops responding or asks you to stop ✅ Ask before sending explicit content—never send unsolicited nudes ✅ Be clear about your intentions and expectations ✅ Accept "no" gracefully

Prohibited Behaviors

❌ Harassment, threats, bullying, or intimidation ❌ Pressuring someone for photos, personal information, or meetups ❌ Continued contact after being blocked or ignored ❌ Sharing screenshots, photos, or conversations without consent ❌ Outing someone's LGBTQ+ status, HIV status, or other private information ❌ Discriminatory language based on race, ethnicity, body type, HIV status, gender expression, or other characteristics

4. Communication Standards

Keep your interactions honest, respectful, and safe.

Do NOT

❌ Spam or mass-message users ❌ Solicit money, gifts, or "financial help" ❌ Attempt to scam, deceive, or manipulate ❌ Impersonate another person ❌ Use scripts, bots, or automation ❌ Send threats or make users feel unsafe ❌ Use Rush for commercial purposes (escorting, paid content promotion, etc.)

Do

✅ Be genuine and direct ✅ Communicate your intentions clearly ✅ Respect when someone isn't interested ✅ Report suspicious or harmful behavior

5. Right Now Safety

The Right Now feature shows nearby users looking to connect in real-time. This feature requires extra care.

Best Practices for Right Now

✅ Verify before meeting: Exchange enough messages to confirm the person is who they claim to be ✅ Meet in public first: Coffee shops, bars, or other public spaces ✅ Tell someone: Let a friend know where you're going and who you're meeting ✅ Keep your phone charged and accessible ✅ Trust your instincts: If something feels off, leave ✅ Arrange your own transportation: Don't depend on your date for a ride ✅ Practice safer sex: Carry protection; communicate about health status

What NOT to Do

❌ Share your exact address in your first conversation ❌ Invite strangers directly to your home ❌ Get in someone else's car without establishing trust ❌ Ignore red flags (inconsistent stories, pressure, aggression) ❌ Assume profiles are verified or accurate

Location Privacy

  • Your exact location is never displayed—only an approximate radius (500m+)
  • You can hide from Right Now while remaining active elsewhere on the app
  • Don't attempt to triangulate or determine someone's exact location
  • Report any user who tries to pressure you for your precise location

6. Meeting Safely Offline

If you choose to meet someone from Rush in person:

Before Meeting

1. Verify their identity through video chat or exchanged photos 2. Tell a trusted friend who you're meeting, where, and when you expect to be back 3. Research the meeting location and choose somewhere you're comfortable with 4. Check in periodically with your friend during the date

During the Meetup

1. Meet in public first—always 2. Drive yourself or arrange your own transportation 3. Keep your belongings with you 4. Watch your drink and don't accept drinks you didn't see made 5. Trust your gut—leave if you feel uncomfortable

After the Meetup

1. Check in with your friend to confirm you're safe 2. Report concerning behavior through the app 3. Don't feel obligated to continue contact if you're not interested

Rush's Limitations

⚠️ Rush cannot verify the identity, intentions, or criminal history of users.

We provide tools for blocking and reporting, but you are responsible for your own safety. Exercise the same caution you would when meeting anyone online.

7. Prohibited Content and Activity

The following are prohibited everywhere on Rush—public and private:

Absolutely Prohibited

❌ CSAM: Content involving minors in any sexual context (immediate account termination and law enforcement reporting) ❌ Non-consensual imagery: "Revenge porn" or images shared without the subject's consent ❌ Illegal content: Anything illegal under applicable law ❌ Violence and threats: Threats of harm, violence, or death ❌ Exploitation: Human trafficking, coercion, exploitation

Also Prohibited

❌ Sex work promotion or escorting services ❌ Drug sales or distribution ❌ Weapons sales ❌ Fraud, scams, or phishing ❌ Malware, hacks, or account compromise attempts ❌ Hate speech targeting any protected group ❌ Doxxing or revealing private information about others

8. Reporting and Moderation

How to Report

1. Tap the report button on any profile, message, or photo 2. Select the violation category 3. Add details and screenshots when possible 4. Submit

What Happens Next

1. Your report enters our moderation queue 2. Moderators review the content and context 3. Actions are taken based on severity (warning → restriction → suspension → ban) 4. You may or may not receive notification of the outcome

What We DON'T Disclose

  • Internal review processes
  • Specific evidence used in decisions
  • Actions taken against other users
  • Details that could compromise safety

False Reports

❌ Do not misuse reporting to harass others. Filing false reports may result in action against your account.

9. Sensitive Information

Your Data, Your Choice

You control what sensitive information you share:

  • Sexual orientation
  • HIV status
  • Sexual preferences
  • Relationship status

Do NOT:

  • Demand others disclose HIV status or other sensitive information
  • Shame, harass, or discriminate based on someone's disclosed status
  • Share someone else's sensitive information without consent

HIV and Sexual Health

Rush supports open, honest conversations about sexual health:

  • HIV status fields are voluntary
  • No one owes you disclosure
  • Discrimination based on HIV status is prohibited
  • Resources for testing and PrEP are available through health organizations

10. Safety in Sensitive Regions

Rush is used globally, including in regions where LGBTQ+ individuals face legal and social risks.

If You're in a Sensitive Region

  • Consider using a pseudonym rather than your real name
  • Be selective about photos that reveal your identity or location
  • Use the "Hide from Right Now" feature
  • Be cautious about who you share personal details with
  • Understand that Rush may be compelled to respond to local legal requests

Our Commitment

We implement location fuzzing and privacy protections, but we cannot guarantee safety in all circumstances. Please exercise appropriate caution based on your local environment.

11. Enforcement

Violations of these Guidelines may result in:

1. Warning: First-time or minor violations 2. Content removal: Offending content is deleted 3. Feature restriction: Messaging, photos, or other features disabled 4. Temporary suspension: Account locked for a period 5. Permanent ban: Account removed with no option to return

Severe violations (CSAM, violence, credible threats) result in immediate permanent bans and may be reported to law enforcement.

12. Be Yourself—Safely

Rush is a space for connection, expression, and community. We ask that you:

✅ Be authentic ✅ Treat others with respect ✅ Prioritize consent in every interaction ✅ Look out for each other ✅ Report harmful behavior

Together, we can maintain a safe and welcoming community for everyone.
